
The West Valley baseball team picked up two wins over Hartnell at Valhalla Wednesday afternoon, in only ten innings of baseball. The Vikings (9-6) got an RBI double from Zach Smits and a run-scoring fielder's choice from Rich Meyers for a 5-3, ten-inning victory over the Panthers to complete a Jan. 20 game suspended because of darkness. In game two, West Valley jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings, scoring four in the 1st on RBI singles from Meyers, Nate Maggi and Troy Gilmore, and picking up three in the 2nd on a two-run double from Nate Petrov and Hunter Schilperoort's RBI single. After the Panthers (2-14) put six runs on the board in the 3rd, the Vikings answered with a pair of unearned runs in the 4th. WVC closed out the scoring in the 8th with a Schilperoort two-run 2B and an RBI single from Ruben Trejo. Jake Pao continued his hot streak with a 3-5 afternoon, while Petrov was 2-5 with three RBI and Schilperoort finished 2-4 with two RBI. The Vikings travel to Skyline (4-11) Saturday (3/3). First pitch is 1:00pm.
