The West Valley baseball team ignored a 7-0 fourth-inning deficit and came roaring back for an 11-10 win over Mission at Valhalla Tuesday. The Vikings (15-17, 8-5 Coast-Golden Gate) handed the Saints six unearned runs in the first two innings before exploding for six of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Jared Reupert started the offensive outburst with a two-run single that scored Nate Petrov and Zach Smits. Two batters later, Jake Pao knocked in Reupert and Danny O'Reilly with a single, and then Jonathan Teschner capped the inning with a triple that drove in Pao and Travis Varni. Mission (23-7, 10-3) made it 10-6 with three runs in the top of the fifth, a lead that would hold until the seventh. Teschner reached on an error to open the inning and then came home on an Erik Ochoa double. A Smits single and a walk to Petrov loaded the bases for Steven Grizzle, who doubled to score Smits and Ochoa. An O'Reilly sacrifice fly knocked in Petrov and Varni doubled in Grizzle to give the Vikings an 11-10 lead. Jake De Fiore, on in relief of starter Keegan Baird, got the first two outs in the ninth, before Matt Atencio got the final Saints out on a fly to Pao in center. De Fiore earned the win, giving up no runs and no hits in 3 2/3 innings. Pao, Reupert and Smits all went 2-4, as the Vikings outhit the Saints 11-4. WVC and Mission tangle again at Valhalla Thursday (4/11). First pitch is 2:30pm.
