The West Valley basketball team had its four-game unbeaten conference win streak snapped in an 82-60 loss to visiting Gavilan Friday night. The battle of the top two teams in the Coast-South opened tightly, but turned on a pair of big Ram runs in the first half and a withering Gavilan press in the second half. Ryan Hewitt had maybe his best all-around game of the year with 16 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals. Cristian Mejia had 13 points, three rebounds and three steals, while Jacquez Walker contributed 11 points and three assists. Deion Ellis paced the Rams (19-2, 5-0) with 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. The Vikings (10-11, 4-1 Coast-South) head over the hill to Cabrillo Wednesday (1/30) for a 5:00pm tilt against the Seahawks (15-5, 4-1).
