A NorCal championship rematch with 2017 CCCAA state champion Fresno City highlights a brutal 2018 West Valley men's soccer schedule. A Viking side featuring two dozen returning sophomores, including All-American David Chavez and All-Coast Conference 1st-teamers Bo Antonissen, Bryan Valencia and Yannick Lamers, will take on eight 2017 playoff teams. West Valley, which went 16-3-4, 10-0-3 in the Coast, in 2017, opens against Lake Tahoe CC on Aug. 31 at Mt San Antonio College. Foothill comes to Dick Schwendinger Field Sept. 8 for the 2018 home opener at noon. On Sept. 15 at noon, the Vikings travel to Fresno City, the site of FCC's 1-0 win in an epic NorCal final last December. The 2018 home season ends with a trio of matches against Coast heavyweights, 10/26 against Skyline (14-3-4 in 2017), 11/2 against Las Positas (14-4-6) and 11/9 vs. Hartnell (17-3-3).
