CUPERTINO -- Emma Van Laar placed seven separate times in the Vikings' Coast Conference performance, as four other Vikings placed to lead West Valley to a fourth-place finish.

Van Laar finished second in both the 100 free preliminary round, finishing with a season-best 56:08 before topping her own mark and finishing second, this time in 55:44, in the finals. She had a strong showing in the 100 meter individual medley, finishing second in the prelims and third in the finals. She improved on that performance in the 200 meter IM, posting a season-best 2:20.32 in the final to take home second. Individually, Van Laar placed eighth in the championship.

Sofia Gaytan-Martinez and Grace Appler each finished in third in four separate events. Neeki Afshar, the Vikings' third-highest scorer, finished in third twice, and Kyla McCartney did the same.
