2-0 Win Over Las Positas Moves WVC to NorCal Finals

Vikings top Las Poistas 2-0

The West Valley men's soccer team advanced to the CCCAA NorCal championships with a 2-0 win over Las Positas Tuesday in wind-blown Livermore. Pablo Ramirez Belmont lit up the scoreboard with a pair of goals and GK Yannick Lamers stopped five Hawk shots to record his 11th shutout on the season. Ramirez Belmont got the 5th-seeded Vikings the only goal they'd need at the 28th minute, taking a Jose Valencia pass and lofting a header over the Hawk keeper. Lamers was put to task after intermission, turning away a furious LPC attack with four saves. Ramirez Belmont put it away when he blasted in a Rudy Castro pass from just inside the flag at 83'. West Valley (16-2-4) extended its unbeaten streak to 20 games and moves into the CCCAA Elite Eight, either at Fresno City or at home against Santa Rosa Saturday (11/25). The top-seeded Rams (14-1-6) and the #9 Bear Cubs (10-6-4) square off at Fresno this afternoon (11/22).
