Saturday's men's soccer game against Evergreen Valley is more than just a crucial Coast-South conference contest between NorCal soccer heavyweights. At halftime, legendary West Valley coach and Bay Area soccer icon Dick Schwendinger will be honored in a special Dick Schwendinger Field dedication ceremony. Coach Schwendinger was a founding West Valley faculty member in 1964 and he founded and coached the Viking men's side for 22 years. He established, and still directs, a soccer camp in the Sierra that has hosted more than 60,000 resident campers from around the world. Please join the West Valley community in celebrating the legacy of Dick Schwendinger. Parking is free in lot 7 to the north of the field and all are invited to a post-game BBQ. The Vikings and the Hawks kick everything off at 1:00pm.
